  • What happens when my child gets sick at school?
    • Beginning Visions has nurses on staff and all teachers and staff have first aid and CPR certifications.  When a child is noticed to be behaving differently than normally, the teacher will talk to the student about the situation and work together to solve the problem.  If the child feels sick then a temperature will be taken and he/she will go to the office to be evaluated by a nurse or qualified staff member.  Comfort and appropriate treatment is applied.  The parent will be notified and will determine the plan of action.
  • Does my child have to sleep at nap time?
    • The state of N.C. recommends rest for young children but going to sleep is not required.  The child can just rest quietly.  When sleep does not occur a book or a soft toy is given to comfort him and help him relax.
  • Why can my child not wear sandals or flip-flops to school?
    • Each classroom goes outside daily at least once.  This is time to run and be active and  we are required to have mulch for soft surfaces.  This wood chips can be hurtful to feet and may get into opened shoes and cause injury.  Loose shoes are a tripping hazard.  We want to avoid accidents before they happen.
  • What happens when my child misbehaves at school?
    • We all have problems and make wrong choices sometimes. Most first occurrences are just ignored. Often times just redirecting the child into another activity is all that is needed to change the  behavior. Refer to your parent handbook on Beginning Visions policy for more details on how we handle misbehavior. The parent will be called and consulted on any problem or concern that involves his/her child.
